Hawaiian Vacation- Part II

Volcano National Park:
Reading up on the prehistoric era as we drive to Volcano National Park.

Cecilia celebrates freedom from the car and her first glimpse of the smoking cauldron.

Everything around here is smoking.

The crater rim seems like a great place to eat dinner and watch the sun set.

Bea-U-ti-ful!

So beautiful we couldn't resist hiking along the rim.

The crater was calling us from below
....and as it often happens with us....
instead of relaxing & watching the sun set from atop the crater's rim,
we found ourselves chasing the sun across the crater floor.

Caught it!

(above pictures taken in underwater mode...oops...still pretty cute)

Trevor totes important items on each hike:
the map, water (for C, not us) & good reads.

Tide Pools and Turtles:
We felt so grateful for this turtle sighting in such shallow waters!

After a few moments,
we realized we were surrounded by a family of three feasting turtles.
So cool to share the underwater world with Cecilia!

Sun, Sand & Solitude:
A short hike to paradise.

"Short" is often subjective

Worth every step

Cecilia is ready for a swim with her daddy.

Post-swim sand shoveling

Snack time!

Walking back to the car with a setting sun in the distance and a sleeping Cecilia on her mama's chest = PEACE

Ahhhh, or as Cecilia would say "Ommmm"

Annual Trip?

Hawaii- Part I

Cecilia's third plane ride

An afternoon at a black sand beach

An afternoon hiking and snorkeling

Someone had to have her own stick.

1000 foot descent down a 2 mile long lava rock laden trail (and it's grueling inverse).
Why would we put ourselves through such agony while on vacation in Hawaii?

The best snorkeling on the island.

Either really uncertain about the water and her surroundings, or peeing

Hanging at the hotel was almost just as fun as our island adventures

Every morning Cecilia would patiently wait for her parents to open the door so she could take off for the pool.

Why no hat or sunglasses?
Because it is 7:30 in the morning!
