More Costa Rica

Biking was the best mode of transport for our family while we were in Mal Pais & Santa Teresa

Climbing to a waterfall near Montezuma

Climbing away from the waterfall on a path less worn- most people would think bringing a 2 year old to Costa Rica was adventure enough. I guess we needed more...pretty thrilling hike out!

The hot tubs (which were only heated by the sun) proved to be perfect Cecilia-sized pools

"Thanks for the fun times Costa Rica. I heart you."
(Funny story about this lollipop someone gave to her- she had not a clue what it was or what she was supposed to do with it for about 10 minutes. Very amusing for her parents who are guilty of not exposing her to enough junk food.)

Costa Rica

Cecilia gets her passport stamped after the most exhilarating day of traveling with Buddy Passes on Delta Airlines. The odds were against us at each leg of the trip, but somehow we were allowed on each flight, AND we got to sit together! Must be the sweet child we were toting along!!

After going to the wrong bus terminal (and almost getting into the car with a taxi driver who wanted to help us out by charging us $75 to drive us to the next bus stop 45 minutes out of town because he swore all buses leaving San Jose for Manuel Antonio National Park were full for the rest of the day) we finally made our way to this terminal where we paid a total of $14 for 3 tickets all the way to the park (4 hours away).

Hiking

Whether sitting on the beach, swimming in the water, or hiking through the rainforest you are likely to encounter some living creature. Here are a few we captured on film:

(blurry picture of the owl that slept in a tree outside one of our hotels in Montezuma- very cool!)

If we were not hiking in the National Park, eating delicious food, or sitting by our hotel door while Cecilia took her afternoon nap we were most likely on the beach.

We watched the sunset every evening we had a west facing view. After spending a week in Manuel Antonio Natl Park (sunset above), we boated across the bay to Montezuma (no sunsets). We loved the scene and the beaches, but dearly missed watching the spectacular setting sun so we jumped on a bus to bring us over the hillside to Mal Pais, where once again we enjoyed the gorgeous evening finales.
Often Cecilia drank her boxed milk while her parents toasted with ice cold cervezas

Sometimes we ate ceviche, followed by a Costa Rican casada, while we bid farewell to the sun
