Grandpa Dan and Grandma Pixie flew out to Portland to celebrate Grandpa's 60th. For his birthday he wanted to spend time with Cecilia and hike up Mt Saint Helen's.
Bad planning and a lot of spring snow kept us from hiking to the rim of the infamous volcano that blew in 1980. Instead we ventured through Forest Park.
Trevor didn't want to let his father-in-law down by bringing him on a trite "regular old hike" for his 60th birthday. Dan happily followed Trevor through river beds and up thick ravines all the while smiling (unlike wife and daughter, Tenneal, who questioned the curious route at every corner and bend).
In the end, we found great rewards awaiting us.
