Easter in SLC

Cecilia LOVED the airplane ride.
She especially liked pointing at the clouds in the sky.

The Easter eggs, filled with toys, were a hit and kept her occupied for a long time.

We spent the weekend catching up with friends and playing in snow.
Cheers Zoe!

One baby out, two to go.....

Cecilia enjoyed a lot of Shannon-Time. Here Shannon shows off her Bop-It skills to C.

"Love you Em"

Trevor and Tenneal met up with the Easter Bunny Sunday morning. Cecilia missed out on this chance meeting with the bunny as she was at the Solitude day care- we paid 20 bucks an hour for her to eat ice cream, watch t.v. and ???? who knows what else she got away with at that daycare center while we out snowboarding with Shannon and Chester for 2 hours. Sometimes you just have to sacrifice your morals;)

Trevor and Chester celebrate a gorgeous view and anticipate the fresh snow below.

Taking a break after a steep hike in DEEP snow.

Tenneal takes a few turns.

It was so nice to spend time in a place we consider sacred.

It was also nice to get back to Portland, a place we now love and consider home.

A Recap of What Cecilia Was Doing During the Month of March

Showing off a few of her new moves.

Reading.

Enjoying a long birthday celebration that started on February 25th
and ended on March 13th.

How tiny does C look in this picture?

A mild spring means an early visit to the nursery.

Helping mom plant the bulbs.

Bathing in warm water after a long day in the sun.

Grandpa and Grandma came out to visit and help out while we were without a nanny.

Grandpa and Cecilia spent most days walking down the street, stopping often to smell the flowers- something they both love to do!

Grandma starting her early on the classics.

On a bitter sweet note, we said farewell to good friends who have moved to Dili. We miss you Felix, Zahra, Shaula and Paul!

C especially misses Z's great hugs!

Bath Time Rituals

"Uh, this is MY time.
Is anything sacred?"

No, nothing is private around our house.
Here Cecilia takes a look at her accomplishment.
And yes, we have a picture of another excrement, but thought we would spare you.
----don't know why blogger.com decided to turn the picture---

Brushing those 6 teeth.

Whatever we can do to drive a point home.

Just like daddy.

Magazines seem to help get the job done.

We are hoping that the cloth diapers will pay off in another way (other than saving $ and keeping unnecessary crap and plastic out of the landfill - word on the street is that it takes 5oo years for a regular diaper to decompose) and encourage early potty training because she will not want to sit around in a soggy diaper.
Who knows?
We will tell ya how it goes.....

ps....a shout out to the g-parents and great aunties who hooked us up with diaper service for the first 6 months of diapering this little girl. It sure was nice to throw all those nasty ones in a sack and ship 'em off to someone else when we were still novices:)

All Smiles Around Here

After what seemed like endless battles with viruses, Cecilia and our computer are now functioning properly.

Happy Birthday Cecilia!

One year ago today, we shared the happiest day of our lives when Cecilia was born.

The year long sleepless journey has been our best adventure yet.

Wrestle Mania

Cecilia starts out ahead with a quick pin, but she takes her eyes off her target and is soon down for count.

Springtime in February

Cecilia has discovered flowers, and now spends a good portion of her day requesting we bring flowers to her so she can smell them.
(Thanks for the gorgeous sweater Betsy!)

Hanging out in the backyard watching Daddy work on our patio.

Cecilia wanted to lend a hand.

Kyle, Cecilia and Tenneal (holding frisbee) wonder why they are hanging with this batch of
Cake Eaters from Edina.

Visitors in 2010

Cecilia stays out past her bed time and devours a sausage or two at Olympic Provisions, a new Portland restaurant (Garen's brother is a co- owner of this great salumeria).

Cecilia likes hanging out with Garen, and cannot wait until he moves here next year....
Time to finish that dissertation and get out to Portland Garen!

These guests brought along a ton of surprises and were tons of fun!
Our first surprise came as soon as Betsy stepped over the threshold.
Behold, a pregnant belly!
I guess we have been a bit preoccupied with our little life out here to notice what others are doing.....Congrats Kyle and Betsy!
Cecilia loves the elephant you two made. You guys are awesome!

Cecilia got to spend some special time with her Oma too.
Thanks for your help Lynda. We had a wonderful week with you!

We did have other visitors, but we were having too much fun with them to capture their faces on film. Sorry!
Thanks Renae for another great visit...and for babysitting while we went out to 80's night.

"Buon giorno"

Our little Italian guy.
